ROCHESTER, NY - Travis Robinson went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored, while Cortland's bullpen pitched 3 2/3 scoreless innings, leading the #6 Red Dragons to a 10-1 win over RIT this afternoon at RIT Field.
Cortland (30-5-1, 13-1 SUNYAC) took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a passed ball and a single by Robinson. After Cortland went up 3-0 in the top of the fourth inning, RIT rallied back, scoring their only run of the game on a RBI single by co-captain John Byrne (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville East) (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville East).
The Red Dragons broke the game open with a four-run fifth inning, highlighted by a two-run single by Pat D'Auria.
Mike Burnett picked up his seventh win of the year for Cortland, allowinf five hits in 5 1/3 innings. Nick McPartland pitched out of a bases-loaded one out jam in the bottom of the six and combined with two other relievers to keep RIT at bay.
Jimmy Basnight and Zach Tacelli each had two hits in the win.
Mike Fox (Victor, NY/Victor) (Victor, NY/Victor) started for RIT (12-10, 4-3 Empire 8) and struck out nine, but allowed seven hits, seven earned runs and walked five.
RIT is back in action on Tuesday, as they host Medaille College in a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
