Click for Friday's ResultsClick for Saturday's ResultsFREDERICKSBURG, VA - The RIT Men's Track and Field concluded their weekend in fine fashion at the annual Battleground Relays track & field meet this weekend, hosted by Mary Washington College.
Action got underway on Friday despite a drizzle that remained over the Fredericksburg area for most of the day.
The men's 4x800-meter relay team earned first place, finishing with a time of 8:08.65. Nate Lowe (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) (Rochester, NY/Spencerport) finished second in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 33:34.99. Teammate Chad Byler (Boyertown, PA/Boyertown) finished fourth in the event.
Chris Batdorf finished seventh in the hammer throw with a toss of 101-10. The following day, he also placed seventh in the discus throw.
On Saturday, first-year standout Jimmy Sorel (Brockport, NY/Brockport) finished second in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 15.12. Junior Jesse Williamson (Poughkeepsie, NY/Franklin D. Roosevelt) won the 1,500 meters in a time of 4:08.62. Three other Tigers finished in the top 10 in the event, as Chris Schauerman placed third, Eric Enwright (Oswego, NY/Oswego) came in seventh and Kevin Smith (Hamburg, NY/) placed 10th.
Dereck Bojanowski (Franklinville, NY/) finished second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase in a time of 10:16.4. Dean Ganskop (Williamson, NY/) and Brendan Fitzgerald (Penfield, NY/Penfield) finished fourth and fifth respectively in the 400-meter hurdles.
Matthew Newcomb placed sixth in the discus throw with a toss of 118-09.
RIT's distance relay team ran strong, finishing second by less than a second, coming in at 10:38.64.
