ROCHESTER, NY -
Sophomore hurler Allie Sitton (Baltimore, MD/The Park School) (Baltimore, MD/The Park School) set a Tiger record with 19 strikeouts in game one, but it was not enough, as RIT was swept by Genesee River rival Rochester 3-2 in 12 innings in game one and 4-2 in game two.

Sitton and U of R pitcher Kristina Long matched goose eggs for the first 10 innings.  In the top of the eleventh inning, Breana Sniezek (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg) (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg) singled in Katie Grenga (Syracuse, NY/Christian Brothers Academy) (Syracuse, NY/Christian Brothers Academy), who was placed on second to start the inning, to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.  The Yellowjackets tied it in their half of the 11th, as Alicia Citro hit a sacrifice fly, driving in Jessica Sorrentino, who was placed on second base to begin the inning and advanced to third on a groundout.

Once again, RIT took a one-run lead in the top of the 12th, as Caitlin Whittington (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) was placed on second and after advancing to third base on a sacrifice bunt by Josa Hanzlik (Fairport, NY/Fairport) (Fairport, NY/Fairport), scored when Gretchen Goodhue (Sanford, ME/Sanford) (Sanford, ME/Sanford) hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield.

The Yellowjackets (22-15), however, received a one out, two-run single from Andrea LaRocque down the left field line in the bottom of the 12th to earn the 3-2 win.

Sitton was fabulous on the mound, breaking the previous record for strikeouts in a game of 17, set by current Tiger assistant coach Krissy Mamon in 2001.

Sitton struck out the first eight Yellowjackets she faced and 15 through the first seven innings of play.

In game two, the Tiger defense made six errors in front of starter Mary Keegan (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca) leading to all four runs allowed being unearned.

Hanzlik recorded two hits and Heidi Schille (Lake George, NY/Lake George) (Lake George, NY/Lake George) drove in a run in the 4-2 loss.

RIT (16-14, 7-1 Empire 8) travels to Troy, NY to play RPI in a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m.
