ROCHESTER, NY -
The RIT Softball team (16-12, 7-1 Empire 8) kept their one-game lead in Empire 8 play, defeating second-place Ithaca (21-9, 10-2 Empire 8) 3-0 in game one of a scheduled doubleheader on Tuesday at RIT Field.  Ithaca came back to win game two, 12-0

Sophomore hurler Allie Sitton (Baltimore, MD/The Park School) (Baltimore, MD/The Park School) was the difference on the mound today, getting out of a bases-loaded jam in the first inning and cruising from there, allowing just three hits and striking out eight to earn her eighth win of the year.

Third-basemen Josa Hanzlik (Fairport, NY/Fairport) (Fairport, NY/Fairport) tripled in Caitlin Krumm (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville North) (Buffalo, NY/WIlliamsville North) with two outs in the bottom of the first inning to give RIT a 1-0 lead.  Gretchen Goodhue (Sanford, ME/Sanford) (Sanford, ME/Sanford) then drove in Hanzlik with a single of her own to make it 2-0.

RIT added their final run in the second inning, when Krumm was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, scoring Katie Grenga (Syracuse, NY/Christian Brothers Academy) (Syracuse, NY/Christian Brothers Academy), who led off the inning with a single.

Ithaca pounced on RIT starter Mary Keegan (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West), scoring four runs in the first inning and never looking back, defeating RIT 12-0 in just five innings.

Breana Sniezek (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg) (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg) recorded RIT's only hit, a double to lead off the game.

Leigh Bonkowski and Hannah Shalett homered for Ithaca, who finished their Empire 8 season with a 10-2 mark.

RIT is back in action on Thursday, as they travel to play cross-town rival University of Rochester in a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
