Rochester, NY -- The RIT men's tennis team played the Alfred University Saxons this afternoon. The Tigers beat the Saxons 6-1 and improve their record to 8-1 with their 8th straight win. Alfred's record is now 6-3.
In doubles, first doubles team of David Chachu (Kumasi, Ghana/Mfantsipim School) (Kumasi, Ghana/Mfantsipim School) and Rod Razavi (Cincinnati, OH/Cincinnati Country Day) (Cincinnati, OH/Cincinnati Country Day) and third doubles team of Frank Solome (Rochester, NY/Eastridge) (Rochester, NY/Eastridge) and Jon New (Pittsburgh, PA/Central Catholic) (Pittsburgh, Pa/Central Catholic) both had easy victories. Second doubles team of Jason Swails (Vestal, NY/Vestal) (Vestal, NY/Vestal) and Adam DePuit (Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) (Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) had a close match but ended up losing 9-7.
Chachu and Somole had a pretty easy time during their singles matches as well. Zak Blazic (Wyncote, PA/Cheltenham) (Wyncote, PA/Cheltenham), New, and Razavi also added to RIT's win.
The Tigers final match of the season is this Tuesday in Geneva. They play Hobart College at 4 pm. The Empire 8 Championships begin this Saturday at 10 am.
