Men's Basketball Improves to 14-7 With Win Over Nazareth

ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (14-7, 8-2 Empire 8) used a fast start and some hot shooting to beat Nazareth College (7-14, 2-8 Empire 8), 75-54 on Tuesday evening at Clark Gymnasium.

RIT jumped out to a 13-2 lead early in the first half thanks to some hot shooting from three-point land. Sean Murphy (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville North) (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville North) nailed three, three-pointers in a row to give RIT the early advantage.

Nazareth answered back with a 10-2 run late in the first half to cut RIT's lead to three points on a layup by Justin Fladd. The Golden Flyers forced RIT into 11 first half turnovers which helped them with first half comeback.

The Tigers were able to weather the storm somewhat and scored two late buckets to take a 27-22 lead into halftime.

Sean Murphy (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville North) led RIT with nine points in the first half, while Kyle Goff (Manassas, VA/Stonewall Jackson) (Manassas, VA/Stonewall Jackson) added seven points and grabbed five rebounds.

RIT blew the game open with a big run midway through the second half to build their lead to 23 points. The Tigers were hot in the second half, shooting 58.6% (17-of-29) from the floor and 4-of-10 from behind the arc.

Kyle Goff (Manassas, VA/Stonewall Jackson) scored seven points in the second half to finish with 14 for the game. Murphy added 13 points and Reggie Shore (Amityville, NY/Amityville) (Amityville, NY/Amityville) added 12 points, four rebounds and four assists.

Fran Snyder (Buffalo, NY/Bishop Timon St. Jude) (Buffalo, NY/Bishop Timon St. Jude) had five points, five rebounds, five assists and a steal.

RIT will host Utca College on Friday night at 8 p.m. in Empire 8 action at Clark Gymnasium.
