Men's Basketball Rolls Past Elmira

ELMIRA, NY –
Senior forward Sean Murphy (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville North) (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville North) scored 27 to go along with 10 rebounds, leading the RIT Men’s Basketball team to a 77-60 win over Elmira on Friday night at the Speidel Gymnasium. 
 
RIT (17-7, 11-2 Empire 8) won for the 10th time in their last 11 games. 
 
Murphy moved into 13th place on the all-time Tiger scoring list.  He now has 1,118 career points.  It was the fourth double-double of the year for Murphy, who was recently named to the 2004-05 ESPN The Magazine College Division Regional Academic All-America First Team.
 
RIT led 37-31 at the half, as all 11 players who played for the Tigers in the opening 20 minutes scored at least two points.
 
The Tigers went on an 8-0 run to start the second half, and led by as much as 18.  RIT shot 16-of-27 (59.3 percent) in the second half.
 
Kyle Goff (Manassas, VA/Stonewall Jackson) (Manassas, VA/Stonewall Jackson) pulled down nine rebounds to go along with eight points and three assists.  Reggie Shore (Amityville, NY/Amityville) led the Tigers with five assists and four steals.
 
RIT out-rebounded Elmira 39-33.  The Tigers set a season-high with 16 steals. 
 
Micah Owens scored 16 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for Elmira (3-20, 3-9 Empire 8).  Albert Davis grabbed 11 rebounds and scored 10 points.
 
The Tigers close out the regular season at Ithaca College on Saturday.  Tip-off is at 2 p.m.
