Men's Swimming and Diving Defeats University of Rochester; Donahoe Sets School and Pool Records

ROCHESTER, NY -
The RIT Men's Swimming and Diving defeated cross-town rival University of Rochester at the Judson Pool on Saturday afternoon.

RIT's 200-yard medley relay team of Tyler Morrison (Hartford, CT/) (Hartford, CT/Concord), Chris Walczyk (Hooksett, NH/) (Hodesett, NH), Erik Zelbacher (Victor, NY/) (Victor, NY/Victor) and Yi Xie (Orchard Park, NY/) (Orchard Park, NY) won the first event of the afternoon in a sparkling time of 1:41.09.

Zelbacher, RIT's record holder in three events, took the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly events, just beating Jon Scibilia (Rochester, NY/) (Rochester, NY) in the 50.  Zelbacher won the 50-yard freestyle by .38 of a second, in a time of 21.66.  He then came back and won the 100-yard butterfly in :53.16.

Morrison won the 200-yard backstroke in a time of :57.35, while Walczyk took the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:04.54 .

Phil Baudoin (Blacksburg, NY) finished second in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:50.67.

Sophomore All-American diver Quinn Donahoe (Syracuse, NY/) (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) won both the 1 and 3-meter diving events with scores of 326.70 and 320.05 respectively Both scores broke his school and pool records, set last season.

The Tigers are back in action on Saturday, January 14, 2006, as they travel to Utica to compete versus the Pioneers at 1 p.m.
