ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT women's volleyball team improved to 2-0 in the Empire 8 with a 3-1 win over St. John Fisher on Tuesday night. The win keeps RIT in a tie for first place atop the Empire 8 standings.
RIT found themselves down early in the first two games but were able to battle back, taking a 2-0 lead. After a Fisher win in game #3 RIT dominated game #4, taking it, 30-17.
Senior
Christina Anabel (Apalachin, NY/Vestal) (Apalachin, NY/Vestal) led RIT with 30 kills and 17 digs. She also chipped in a service ace.
Katie Werner (Trumbull, CT/Trumbull) (Trumbull, CT/Trumbull) added 53 assists and 20 digs, while
Laurie Underhill (East Aurora, NY/Mt. Mercy) (East Aurora, NY/Mt. Mercy) and
Cecilia Enestrom (Medicine Hat, AB/McCoy) (Medicine Hat, BC/McCoy) each had nine kills. Freshman
Jessica Schaffer (Wellington, OH/Keystone) (Wellington, OH/Keystone) added six kills, had three service aces and 15 digs.
The Tigers travel to New York City this weekend to take place in the NYU Tournament. Play begins on Friday.
