Women's Volleyball Falls to Ithaca; Finishes Second in the Empire 8

ROCHESTER, NY -
The RIT Women's Volleyball team (29-6, 6-1 Empire 8) had its 11-match winning streak snapped, falling to Ithaca College in four games on Sunday afternoon. 

The loss means that Ithaca will be the top-seed and host for the 2005 Empire 8 Championship Tournament, which will be held on November 5th.  RIT will play St. John Fisher in one semifinal, while Ithaca will face off against Elmira in the other match.

RIT won the first game, 30-28, but could not hang on, as Ithaca took the next three games, 30-20, 30-24, 30-15.

Senior Christina Anabel (Apalachin, NY/Vestal) (Apalachin, NY) led RIT with 20 kills and 17 digs. Bonnie Harriman (Danbury, CT/Danbury) (Danbury, CT) added 14 kills and had six digs. Laura Grell (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) (Lancaster, NY) had 17 digs, while Cecilia Enestrom (Medicine Hat, AB/McCoy) (Medicine Hat, AB) added 12 digs. Katie Werner (Trumbull, CT/Trumbull) (Trumbull, CT) tallied 42 assists.

The Tigers are back in action on Tuesday night, as they travel to play Brockport State at 7 p.m.
