Men's Basketball Improves to 5-1 in the Empire 8 With Win Over Hartwick

ONEONTA, NY
– Senior forward Sean Murphy (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville North) (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville North) scored 19 points and sophomore center Tim Bacon (Massena, NY/Massena) (Massena, NY/Massena) had 14, leading RIT (11-6, 5-1 Empire 8) to their fourth straight win, 71-59 over Hartwick College (2-14, 0-6 Empire 8) on Friday at Binder Gymnasium.

The Tigers shot 37% (10-of-27) from the floor and 4-of 13 from behind the three-point line.  Murphy had nine points and five rebounds in the first half to help the Tigers take a 30-29 halftime lead. 
 
The Tigers came out and shot 45% from the floor and held Hartwick to 40% shooting from the floor in the opening 20 minutes. 

Murphy made 6-of-12 field goals and connected on 6-of-11 three-point field goals in the contest. He also contributed eight rebounds in 32 minutes of action.
 
Bacon hauled in six rebounds to go along with his 14 points, and senior forward Kyle Goff (Manassas, VA/Stonewall Jackson) (Manassas, VA/Stonewall Jackson) finished with 12 points, seven rebounds and two steals. In addition, sophomore forward Brian Hill (Rochester, NY/Wheatland-Chili) (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) added nine points and five rebounds.
