ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT men's basketball team downed Elmira College, 80-51 on Saturday afternoon. Senior Center
Jesse Foote (Lockwood, NY/Spencer-Van Ettan) (Lockwood, NY/Spencer-Van Ettan) set the RIT career record for blocks. He broke
Charlie Bartlett's '95 record of 208. With his eight blocks against Elmira Foote now has 215 career blocks.
RIT led by as many as 13 points in the first half that saw the Tigers shoot 48.1% from the floor. The Tigers hit 13-of-27 from the floor, including eight from behind the arc.
Sean Murphy (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville North) (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville North) paced RIT with 11 points.
Kyle Goff (Manassas, VA/Stonewall Jackson) (Manassas, VA/Stonewall Jackson) added eight points and
Fran Snyder (Buffalo, NY/Bishop Timon St. Jude) had five points and four assists.
The Tigers defense was outstanding, holding the Soaring Eagles 26.5% shooting in the first half. RIT forced the Soaring Eagles into five turnovers.
RIT broke the game open in the second half, extending their to 25 points on a layup by
Brian Hill (Rochester, NY/Wheatland-Chili) (Rochester, NY/Wheatland Chili). The Tigers shot 48.1% in the second half and held Elmira to just 26.1% shooting.
Sean Murphy (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville North) paced RIT with 16 points and six rebounds.
Fran Snyder (Buffalo, NY/Bishop Timon St. Jude) (Buffalo, NY/Bishop Timon St. Jude) added 14 points and dished out seven assists.
Kyle Goff (Manassas, VA/Stonewall Jackson) added 12 points and
Brian Hill (Rochester, NY/Wheatland-Chili) added 10 points and four rebounds.
RIT will face Nazareth College on Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. in Empire 8 action.
