GENEVA, NY -- The RIT men's soccer team improved to 3-0-0 with a 2-1 win over Hobart College (0-3-0) on Wednesday.
Joe Sheflin (Geneseo, NY/Geneseo) (Geneseo, NY/Geneseo) and
Mike Lawson (Wall, NJ/Wall) each scored a goal for the Tigers who were outshot by the Statesmen, 19-14.
It didn't take long for RIT to get on the scoreboard. Just 3:38 into the contest
Joe Sheflin (Geneseo, NY/Geneseo) took a pass from Lawson and chipped a ball over Hobart goalkeeper Ben Tambarella for a 1-0 RIT lead.
Mike Lawson made it 2-0 RIT in th 30th minute when he scored his second goal of the season on a pass from
Chuck Marion (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) (Syracuse, NY/Westhill). RIT keeper,
Nate Andrews (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia), kept a clean sheet in the first half.
Hobart was able to cut into RIT's lead in the second half. Dan Abroms took a feed from Mike Subotowicz and beat Andrews for the goal.
Andrews and his defense were able to stave off Hobart's offense, holding the Statesmen scoreless the rest of the game.
Andrews finished with four saves on the day, improving hisrecord to 3-0-0 on the season.
RITwill host Hamilton College on Saturday afternoon at noon. RIT defeated the Continentals in a non-conference matchup last season in Clinton, New York.
