Women's Soccer Pushes Unbeaten Streak to Two With Victory over St. John Fisher

ROCHESTER, NY -
The RIT Women's Soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to two games with a 4-0 victory over St. John Fisher College today at RIT Field.

The Tigers dominated play throughout the whole match, out-shooting the Cardinals 25-9.

RIT opened the scoring in the 13th minute, as Alaina Chorney (Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan) (Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan) one-timed a cross from senior Kate Cassim (Waterloo, NY/Waterloo) (Waterloo, NY/Waterloo) to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.  Chorney struck again in the 20th minute, driving home a loose ball in the penalty area for her team-leading fourth goal o the year.

The Tigers led 2-0 heading into the intermission.

In the second half it was more of the same, as first-year forward Anna Kolnik (Sharon, WI/Big Foot) (Sharon, WI/Big Foot) launched a shot from 15 yards out that found the back of the cage, giving RIT a commanding 3-0 lead.  Alyssa Bennett (Rochester, NY/Irondequoit) (Rochester, NY/Irondequoit) assisted on the goal.

The Tigers closed out the scoring in the 80th minute, as second-year forward Mallory Frost (Barre, VT/Spaulding) (Barre, VT/Spaulding) capitalized on a defense miscue in front of the St. John Fisher net, and pounced on a loose ball, slamming it into the wide-open net.   The goal for Frost was her second of the season.

Goalkeepers Carrie Yehle (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) (Clifton Park, NY/Shenedahowa) and Dinah Redhouse (Rochester, NY/Greece Odyssey) (Rochester, NY/Greece Odyssey) combined to make three saves.

RIT (3-5-1, 1-1-1 Empire 8) returns to action on Saturday, as they host SUNY Potsdam at 2:30 p.m. at RIT Field.
