Women's Volleyball Kicks Off Empire 8 Season With Win at Alfred

ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT women's volleyball team opened the Empire 8 season on Tuesday night at Alfred. The Tigers swept the Saxons 3-0 (30-23, 30-15, 30-14). The win improves RIT's record to 9-8 overall and 1-0 in the Empire 8.

RIT controlled the match from the opening serve. Junior hitter Bonnie Harriman (Danbury, CT/Danbury) (Danbury, CT/Danbury) led RIT witheight kills. Senior Sarah Ballard (Lake View, NY/Frontier) (Lake View, NY/Frontier) added 39 assists while Laura Grell (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) had 19 digs.
