ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT Tigers Women's Soccer team dropped its third straight game on Wednesday evening, 2-0 to the University Rochester Yellowjackets at Fauver Stadium.
Rochester (3-1-2), who came into tonights game receiving votes in the NCAA Division III NSCAA/Adidas Top 25 poll, broke a scoreless deadlock in the 68th minute, when Maureen Dudiak scored on a rebound. Just over nine minutes later, Ashley Weagraff scored the game's final goal, heading in a pass off a corner kick from Karen Forsythe.
Carrie Yehle (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) (Clifton Park, NY/Shenedahowa) was brilliant in net for the Tigers, finishing with 10 saves. U of R out-shot the Tigers 26-3, including 17-2 over the final 45 minutes.
Senior Leigh Hochella (Macungie, PA/Emmaus) (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus) kept the game scoreless in the 40th minute as she swept a header attempt from a corner kick off the goal line to thwart a Rochester threat. Sophomore Brittany Peters (Marion, NY/Marion) (Marion, NY/Marion) had RIT's best scoring chance of the night, ripping a shot from about 15 yards out that was swatted away by the goalkeeper in the final 10 seconds of play.
RIT (2-5-0) travels to Utica College on Saturday, to play the Pioneers in an Empire 8 showdown at 12 p.m.
