Women's Soccer Falls to Elmira

ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT women's soccer team began Empire 8 conference on Saturday against Elmira College. Despite scoring the first the Tigers were defeated by the Soaring Eagles, 3-1. The loss drops RIT's record to 2-4-0 (0-1-0 E8) while Elmira remains unbeaten at 5-0-0 (1-0-0 E8).

It didn't take long for the Tigers to get on the board. Just eight minutes into the contest sophomore Melanie Bryant (Lancaster, NY/Sacred Heart Academy) (Lancaster, NY/ Lancaster) tallied her first goal of the season, giving RIT a 1-0 lead.

It was just the second goal Elmira had allowed in 5+ games this season.

Elmira equalized in the 24th minute on a goal by Jennifer Tuttle. Tuttle gave Elmira the lead just before half time with her second goal of the game. Katie Allardice struck a orner kick that Tuttle redirected past RIT goalkeeper Carrie Yehle (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa).

Tuttle completed the hat trick in the 65th minute on an assist Corey Holton, making it 3-1 Elmira.

RIT was oushot 10-6 as Carrie Yehle (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) (Clifton Park, NY/ Shenendehowa) made four saves, allowing three goals. Meaghan Doherty had to make jus one save in net for the Soaring Eagles.

RIT will face Rochester on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m.
