ROCHESTER, NY-
The RIT baseball squad took on the Red Hawks of Rensselaer this afternoon in a single game on RIT Field, and were victorious, 6-5.

RPI led off the game, facing Tiger hurler Dylan Rees (Wampsville, NY/Oneida) (Wampsville, NY). In their third at bat, Rensselaer's Joe Ihnatolya blasted a solo shot over the centerfield wall to put the Hawks up 1-0. Though unable to answer in the bottom of the first or the second inning, the Tigers roared back with four unanswered runs in the bottom of the third. They added one more in the bottom of the fifth to extend their lead to 5-1. In the sixth, however, Rensselaer made a comeback, scoring four runs of their own to knot the score at five. But starter Rees persevered, and continued to throw for the rest of the game. RIT scored a key run in the bottom of the sixth, and that's all they would need as the Tigers defense stepped up to keep the Red Hawks off the board for two innings.

Jamie Schild (Fairport, NY/Fairport) (Fairport, NY) went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI; Mark Sapienza (Avon, NY/Avon Central) (Avon, NY) went 2-for-4 with two runs; Adam Gerentine (Marlboro, NY/Marlboro High School) (Marlboro, NY) went 3-for-4 with two runs. Dylan Rees (Wampsville, NY/Oneida) earned the complete game, allowing five runs on five hits over nine innings, striking out three and walking two; he had four earned runs. He improves to 1-3 on the season. The Tigers improve to 11-14 this season, and will face D'Youville tomorrow on RIT Field at 2 p.m.
