Softball Splits at Ithaca

Allie Sitton allowed four hits and no runs in a 1-0 win over Ithaca on Tuesday.

ITHACA, NY -- The RIT softball team split a doubleheader on Tuesday at Ithaca College. Ithaca took game #1, 2-0. The Tigers rebounded and won game #2 1-0.

In game #1 RIT managed just one hit against Ithaca pitcher Zahida Sherman. The Tiger's lone hit came from Megan Varner (Apalachin, NY). Ithaca scored both of their runs in the fourth. Shari McNamara (Rome, NY/Rome Catholic) (Rome, NY) pitched a strong game allowing just two runs on five hits. She struck out seven and walked none.

Allie Sitton (Baltimore, MD/The Park School) shut down the Bombers in game #2, allowing no runs on four hits. Elizabeth Angell (Whitefield, ME/Erskine Academy) (Whitefield, ME) scored the game-winning run in the eighth. She was sacrificed to third by Nicole Taylor (Oswego, NY/Oswego) (Oswego, NY) and drivien in on a single by Elaine Vonderembse (Oak Harbor, OH/Genoa Area) (Genoa, OH). Sitton went eight innings, allowing no runs on four hits. She had five strike outs and a walk.

RIT improves to 15-9 overall and are 7-2 in the Empire 8. The Tigers take on Geneseo on Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m.
