KEUKA PARK, NY --
The RIT softball team took a pair of games from Keuka College on Friday. In game #1 RIT won 6-1 and followed that up with a 9-2 win in game #2.

In game #1 the Tigers came out and put up three runs in the first inning. Elaine Vonderembse (Oak Harbor, OH/Genoa Area) (Genoa, OH), Megan Varner (Apalachin, NY) and Shari McNamara (Rome, NY/Rome Catholic) (Rome, NY) all scored on three hits. RIT added a run in the fourth and two in the seventh as the Tigers pounded out 12 hits.

Shari McNamara (Rome, NY/Rome Catholic) was brilliant on the mound, allowing just one run and one hit in seven innings, picking up the win. She also went 2-4 at the plate with a run scored. Elaine Vondermbse, Megan Varner, Tonya Campbell (Rochester, NY/Aquinas Institute) (Rochester, NY), Danielle Miller (Merrimack, NH) each had two hits for RIT.

In game #2 RIT scored nine runs on eight hits. The Tigers scored four runs in the fourth and seventh innings. Elaine Vonderembse (Oak Harbor, OH/Genoa Area) had three of RIT's eight hits, driving in three runs and scoring two. Megan Varner and Josa Hanzlik (Fairport, NY/Fairport) each had two hits. Mary Keegan (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) (West Seneca, NY) picked up the win for RIT, allowing two runs on one hit over seven innings. She struck out eight and walked none.

RIT will face Cazenovia College on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. in Cazenovia, New York.
