Click For BoxscoreELMIRA, NY -- The RIT men's basketball team were defeated by Elmira College, 81-56 this afternoon in Empire 8 competition. Elmira used a 22-6 run in the second half to blow the game open. The loss drops RIT to 12-8 overall and 7-2 in the Empire 8.
RIT fell down from the start of the game, shooting 39.8 percent from the floor. The Tigers made 10-of-26 shots and wer 0-2 from behind the arc. Conversely Elmira shot a blistering 58.6 percent from the floor in the first half and were 4-for-9 from three-point land.
The second half did not go much better as Elmira continued their hot shooting, making 13-of-22 shots (59.1%). Elmira put the game away with a 22-6 run in the second half as RIT shot 30.8 percent from the floor.
Kyle Goff led RIT with 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting. Goff along with senior captain
John Johnson (Hamburg, N.Y./Frontier Central) led the Tigers with five rebounds apiece. Johnson also chipped in 10 points.
