Men's Soccer Shut Out by Rochester

ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT men's soccer team fell to the University of Rochester, 3-0 on a sunny but cool afternoon at RIT Field. The loss drops RIT to 5-4-1 on the season while the Yellowjackets improve to 9-2-0. The Yellowjackets came into the game ranked 23rd in the latest NSCAA Division III poll.

It took Rochester just 13 minutes to get on the board. Nate Micklos (Palatine, IL) fed a ball into the penalty ara which Ben Cross (Thornton, PA) ran onto and one-timed past RIT keeper Nate Andrews (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) (Rochester, NY/ Greece Arcadia) for a 1-0 lead.

Midway through the first half the Yellowjackets made it 2-0 when Micklos struck a ball from outside the penalty area that handcuffed Andrews. The RIT keeper got his hands on the shot but it skipped through his hands and into the net.

Rochester out shot RIT 6-3 in the first half as the Tigers were held without a shot on goal. Nate Andrews (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) made two saves for the Tigers.

The Yellowjackets put the game away early in the second half. Stephen Maltzman (Delmar, NY) ripped a shot from 25 yards out that deflected off an RIT defender and past RIT goalie Matt Klosner (Lowville, NY/Lowville Academy) (Lowville, NY/ Lowville Academy).

The Tigers first shot on goal came with13:135 to play in the second half on a bast by Dan Beca (Canandaigua, NY/Candandaigua Academy) (Canandaigua, NY/ Canandaigua Academy) from jus outside the penalty area. RIT finished with four total shots.

The Tigers travel to Ithaca College on Saturday to face the 15th ranked Bombers in an Empire 8 clash. That match gets under way at 1 p.m.
