Roberts Wesleyan got on the board first when
Aimee Legault (Pointe Claire, Quebec) ran onto the ball and blasted it past RIT goalie
Carrie Yehle (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) (Clifton Park, NY/ Shenendehowa), giving the Raiders a 1-0 lead.
Alaina Chorney (Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan) (Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan) tied the score for RIT in the 15th minute with her goal from the top of the penalty area. Chorney controlled the ball just outside the penalty area. She dribbled in and ripped a shot into the lower right corner, tying the score at 1-1.
Midway through the first half Roberts Wesleyan took the lead on an unassisted goal by
Maura Hayes (Cherry Creek, NY). On a scrum in front of RIT's net Hayes gathered in the loose ball and tipped it in for the goal and a 2-1 halftim lead.
Just after halftime the Raiders added a third goal when Legault fed
Shanelle Balfour (Rochester, NY) on a nifty cross. Legrault found some open space in RIT's defense. She fed a nice pass that found Balfour who just had to one-time it past Yehle for a 3-1 Raiders lead.
The Tigers kept firing shots in the second in an attempt to get back in the game. But
Marcey Furlow (Ashville, NY) came up with some big saves for the Raiders. She finished the day with seven saves.
RIT outshot the Raiders in the game 14-6, including seven on goal. Yehle finished the game with two saves for RIT.
