Women's Volleyball Defeats Nazareth; Move Into First Place Tie in Empire 8

ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT Women's team extended its winning streak to three games on Wednesday night after defeating cross-town rival Nazareth College 30-32, 30-28, 30-20, 30-24. 

The win marked the second time the Tigers have beaten Nazareth in 2004.  On September 18th RIT defeated the Golden Flyers in the third place game of the RIT Invitational Tournament, also in four games.

Sarah Ballard (Lake View, NY/Frontier) (Lake View, NY/Frontier) recorded 51 assists to go along with 17 digs.  Junior Bonnie Harriman (Danbury, CT/Danbury) (Danbury, CT/Danbury) finished with 16 kills and 21 digs, while classmate Christina Anabel (Apalachin, NY/Vestal) (Apalachin, NY/Vestal) slammed home 16 kills and recorded 20 digs. 

Michelle Skowzgird (Grayslake, IL/John Hersey) (Grayslake, IL/John Hersey) recorded a season-high seven blocks.  As a team, RIT finished with 18 blocks.

Tricia Jones finished with 17 kills, while Heather Nichols added 14 kills for the Golden Flyers (8-11, 1-1 Empire 8).

RIT (12-9, 3-0 Empire 8) travels to Oswego, NY on Friday and Saturday to play in the SUNY Oswego Tournament.
