ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The RIT baseball team defeated SUNY Brockport 9-3 with strong hitting and solid pitching. The win along with yesterdays mark
the first time RIT has beaten Brockport since 2001 and bring the all time record to 40-48 in favor of the Golden Eagles.
Senior Paul Diedrich (Hilton, N.Y./Hilton) (Hilton, N.Y.) started on the mound for the Tigers and delivered five innings allowing only five hits and two runs.
Jeff Ware (Orchard Park, NY/St. Francis) (Orchard Park, N.Y.) and Eric Hauser (East Aurora, N.Y./Iroquois) (East Aurora, N.Y.) batted in runs to put Diedrich up 2-0 going into the fifth. A Brockport double and a wildpitch strikeout allowed
two Golden Eagles to reach base and eventually tie the game up at 2-2. Brockport scored again in the sixth inning to go ahead 3-2.
Already batting 2-2 with 2 singles and 1 RBI, Ware blasted a two run homerun over the left field fence to break the game open for the Tigers 4-3. RIT would go on to score five more runs on RBIs from Hauser, Jamie Schild (Fairport, NY/Fairport) (Fairport, N.Y.), and Andrew Zach (Buffalo, N.Y./Kenmore East) (Buffalo, N.Y.) to earn the victory for
