BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- The Rochester Institute of Technology baseball team received five strong innings from starter Dan Weglinski (Hyde Park, NY/F D Roosevelt) and two solo shots by Eric Hauser (East Aurora, N.Y./Iroquois) and Jeff Ware (Orchard Park, NY/St. Francis) to give the Tigers a 4-3 victory against SUNY Brockport (30-9) Wednesday afternoon.
RIT (20-12) recorded the fourth 20-win season in the history of the program and fourth in the past five seasons. All of the 20-win campaigns have come under 11th-year head coach Rob Grow.
Hauser led off the top of the fourth with a solo blast and Ware hit a rocket in the top of the eighth inning.
Weglinski blanked the Golden Eagles through 5 1/3 innings allowing five hits and struck out five batters.
Brockport gave the Tigers a scare in the bottom of the eighth when Rob Gladwell hit a two-out three run homer to close the gap to 4-3. However, RIT's top hurler Matt Knodel (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) pitched the bottom of the ninth allowing one hit and struck out two batters to record his fourth save.
