ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The RIT baseball team lost a close game to Cortland 3-2. The Red Dragons are in first place
in the SUNYAC with a 24-9 overall record and have won 12 of the previous 13 games against RIT.
Dylan Rees (Wampsville, NY/Oneida) (Wampsville, N.Y.) took the mound for RIT as both sides quickly retired the first 6 batters they faced. Cortland struck the first blow scoring an unearned run
in the third inning off of a sacrifice fly hit by Josh Horner. The Red Dragons loaded the bases the next inning and scored on a fielder's choice to make the game 2-0.
In the bottom of the 3rd, Marty Maynard (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield) (Penfield, N.Y.) and Jeff Ware (Orchard Park, NY/St. Francis) (Orchard Park, N.Y.) both singled to put runners on 1st and 2nd. Eric Hauser (East Aurora, N.Y./Iroquois) (East Aurora, N.Y.)
drove in both runners with a double to left center tying the game at 2-2. Cortland scored again in the 5th inning and RIT was unable to generate another run.
Rees pitched 7 and 1/3rd innings allowing 3 runs (2 earned) striking out 2.
RIT travels across town to face University of Rochester on Tuesday April 29th.
