ELMIRA, N.Y. -- The Rochester Institute of Technology softball team recorded a doubleheader sweep of Elmira College 1-0 and 2-1 in Empire 8 action Friday afternoon.

Shari McNamara (Rome, NY/Rome Catholic) improved to 14-4 on the season winning both ends of the doubleheader with a three-hit shutout with eight strikeouts in the first game, while she allowed one run on four hits in the second game with seven K's.

. Caitlin Krumm (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville North) delivered the game-winning run in the top of the second inning in the first game with an RBI-single playing Kelly Iagulli (Eagle River, AK/Chugiak) from third base.

In the second game, Megan Varner went 2-for-3 with a run scored. She scored in the bottom of the fifth inning on Elaine Vonderembse (Oak Harbor, OH/Genoa Area)'s single and then Vonderembse advanced to third on the same play via an error and then was suicide squeezed home.

RIT hosts Pitt-Bradford for a senior day doubleheader on Saturday, April 26 at 1 p.m.
