ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The RIT softball team travelled across the bridge to face cross-town rival University of Rochester and came away with two victories 5-1 and 3-1.
In the first game, Shari McNamara (Rome, NY/Rome Catholic) (Rome, N.Y.) pitched another outstanding game allowing only 1 unearned run on 2 hits and striking out 5 Yellowjackets. McNamara was helped on offense by Jen Miazga's (Fairview, Pa.) 2 run double and RBIs from Danielle Miller (Merrimack, N.H.) and Ashley Kennedy (Chappaqua, N.Y.).
Heidi Schille (Lake George, NY/Lake George) (Lake George, N.Y.) backed up McNamara's performance by pitching a tremendous game of her own allowing 1 run on 4 hits with 5 strikeouts. Elaine Vonderembse (Oak Harbor, OH/Genoa Area) (Oak Harbor, Ohio) knocked in 2 runs to put the Tigers ahead 2-1.
RIT's next game will be at Elmira on April 25th.
