ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The RIT Baseball team dropped two games to St. John Fisher and lost valuable ground in the race for an Empire 8 title. In the first game, the the Tigers dropped a 5-0 lead to lose 8-7 due to costly errors and misplayed balls. The second game was within reach for RIT until a costly 6 run 7th inning sealed the game for the Cardinals 8-1.

RIT exploded for 5 runs in the first inning on a 2 run single from Dan Feldman (Brewster, N.Y./Brewster) (Brewster, N.Y.) and a 3 run base clearing double from Andrew Zach (Buffalo, N.Y./Kenmore East) (Buffalo, N.Y.). St. John Fisher would bounce back with 4 runs in the third and 3 in the fourth.

Catcher Marty Maynard (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield) (Penfield, N.Y.) responded for the Tigers by hitting a 2 run homerun in the bottom of the 4th to tie to score at 7. Unfortunately the Cardinals would score 1 run in the 5th inning which RIT was unable to recover from.

In the second game, Matt Knodel (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) (Orchard Park, N.Y.) kept St. John Fisher under control only allowing 2 runs for the first 5 innings. Unfortunately the Tigers' offense was shut down by pitching from Cardinals' pitcher Jason Miles. In the bottom of the 6th inning, Colin Bradley (Barre, VT/Spaulding High School) tripled and was subsequently knocked home by Maynard to make the score 2-1 going into the 7th inning. A rough 7th inning for Knodel where he allowed 6 runs including a 3 run homerun from Tim Nanry destroyed any hope for the win.

RIT will host Cazenovia on at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 25th.
