ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Ithaca College men's tennis team handed the Rochester Institute of Technology its first Empire 8 loss of the season with a 6-1 victory Saturday afternoon.

RIT won the doubles point winning at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to take a 1-0 lead in the match, but Ithaca won all six singles matches for the 6-1 victory. It was no easy task for the Bombers as three of the six matches went three sets. Ithaca's Scott Rubens set the tone in the singles competition battling back from a 5-4 deficit in the first set of his No. 1 singles match against RIT's David Chachu (Kumasi, Ghana/) to win 7-5 and a demoralized Chachu fell 6-0 in the second set.

Ithaca's Mike Medvin faced a similar challenge at No. 2 singles, after losing the first set 6-2 against Noel Camardo (Greenwich, CT/), he won the second set 6-4 and 7-5 in the third for the victory.
