Cocoa Beach, Fla. -- The Rochester Institute of Technogy baseball team fell to a strong Waynesburg team at the Cocoa Expo, 12-5 on Thursday, March 6.
Waynesburg started off the scoring early, plating five runs in the top of the first inning. The early scoring was highlighted by a two RBI double by catcher Bill Tenney, who finished the day 3-4 with three runs scored.
The Tigers fell behind early, but did not give up. RIT (3-2) pushed across two runs in the fourth when Eric Hauser (East Aurora, N.Y./Iroquois) led off with a double to right center and eventually scored on back to back wild pitches. Senior Dan Feldman (Brewster, N.Y./Brewster) also scored in the inning when he reached on a fielder's choice and was driven in by freshman Mark Sapienza (Avon, NY/Avon Central)'s single through the left side.
RIT mounted one last comeback in the bottom of the seventh inning. With two outs freshman catcher Dan Scorse (Rochester, N.Y./Gates Chili High School) and Hauser both drew walks. Freshman Dave France then came through with a two RBI single to right field.
