CANTON, NY -- The women's volleyball team completed competition on Sunday at the NYSWCAA Championships hosted by St. Lawrence University. The Tigers came into the tournament as the fourth seed and lost to Ithaca in their first match, 3-2 and were defeated by the University of Rochester, 3-1 in the fifth place match.
The scores in the match versus #5 Ithaca College were 30-19, 25-30, 27-30, 30-28, 9-15. Sarah Ballard (Lakeview, NY/Frontier) paced the Tigers with 40 assists and 17 digs, earning NYSWCAA Honorable Mention honors. Christina Anabel (Apalachin, NY/Vestal) had 17 kills and 15 digs, while Missy Groginski (Brewertown, NY/Paul V. Moore) had 17 kills and 19 digs.
Versus the University of Rochester on Sunday the scores were 26-30, 30-24, 18-30, 19-30. Sarah Ballard (Lakeview, NY/Frontier) once again led the Tigers with 41 assists and 10 digs. Freshman middle hitter Dani Fisher (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum Borough) had 13 kills and four blocks.
