Click for BoxscoreNEW YORK, NY -- The women's volleyball team began play on Friday at the New York University Invitational with a pair of matches. In their first match the Tigers were defeated by NYU, 3-0 (18-30, 15-30, 9-30). RIT rebounded with a 3-0 (30-15, 30-20, 30-17) win over SUNY New Paltz.
RIT was led by Christina Anabel (Apalachin, NY/Vestal) (Apalachin, NY) who had 12 kills and 12 digs, including seven kills in the victory over New Paltz. Senior co-captain Missy Groginski (Brewertown, NY/Paul V. Moore) (Brewerton, NY) had 11 kills, all of which came against New Paltz and 17 digs, while junior co-captain Sarah Ballard (Lakeview, NY/Frontier) (Lake View, NY) had 38 assists, 22 digs and eight kills.
The Tigers continue play at the NYU Invitational on Saturday, September 13 beginning at 10:30 a.m.
