Click for BoxscoreROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT women's volleyball team dropped a tough, five-game match to Genseo State, 3-2 (24-30, 32-30, 35-37, 30-22, 14-16) . The loss drops RIT to 5-3 on the season, while Geneseo improves to 3-2.
After three very close games RIT found themselvs down 2-1 heading into game four. The Tigers rallied to win that game 30-22, forcing a fifth and deciding game.
RIT was led by Laurie Underhill (East Aurora, NY/Mercy Academy) (East Aurora, NY) with 18 kills. Sophomore hitter Chris Anabel (Apalachin, N.Y./Vestal) (Apalachin, NY) had 16 kills, while junior setter Sarah Ballard (Lakeview, NY/Frontier) (Lakeview, NY) had 51 assists and 23 digs. Senior co-captain Missy Groginski (Brewertown, NY/Paul V. Moore) (Brewerton, NY) had 26 digs for the Tigers and Dani Fisher (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum Borough) (Pittsburgh, PA) tallied three blocks.
The Tigers travel to New York City on Friday and Saturday for the NYU Tournament. Friday's games get under way at 3 p.m.
