Women's Soccer Loses to Nazareth in Empire 8 Semis

ROCHESTER, NY -- The women's soccer team was defeated 5-1 by Nazareth College in the semifinals at the 2003 Empire 8 Women's Soccer Tournament. RIT came into the game as the fourth seed, while Nazareth was the tournament's top seed.

The Tigers were out shot 13-1 in the first half as the Tigers fell behind 2-0. Carrie Yehle (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) made six saves in the first half, keeping the Tigers within striking distance.

RIT came out in the second half firing, taking 11 shots. However, Nazareth's Candace Hatcher was equal to the task stopping all six shots that made it on goal. Nazareth held a 4-0 lead when senior midfielder Nicole Paga (Pittsburgh, PA/Brashear) tallied an unassisted goal in the 82nd minute, making the score 4-1. Yehle made four saves in the second half, allowing three goals.

The loss drops RIT to 11-7-0 on the year.
