Men's Soccer Falls to St. John Fisher

ROCHESTER, NY -- On a windy afternoon at RIT Field the men's soccer team fell to St. John Fisher College 3-1. The Tigers out shot Fisher 22-11 but scored their lone goal late in the game.

St. John Fisher started the scoring in the first half when Justin Dell scored on a shot from the outside. Dell's goal would prove to be the only goal of the first half. Fisher out shot RIT in the first half 7-5 as Matt Klosner made two saves for the Tigers.

St. John Fisher's second goal came in the 60th minute when Michael Dugbartey tucked one in the corner on an assist from Mitch Losey. Anthony D'Angelo made 3-0 with his unassisted goal in the 83rd minute.

RIT's best scoring chance came with 33 minutes to go. Jorge Ciurlizza played a ball from across from the end line that found Trae Lower. Lower played it on the first touch but Tim Bergstresser read the play and deflected the ball out of the penalty area. With 15 minutes to play Michael Lawson sent a ball into the box. Geoff Schmidt got a head on it inside the penalty area and directed it toward the goal. Trae Lower also had a chance at it but Fisher's goalie Tim Bergstresser came off his line and punched the ball out of danger. With 15 minutes to play in the second half . Then with 1:01 to play Trae Lower finally broke through and scored for the Tigers.

RIT falls to 5-8-1 on the season and 1-4-1 in the Empire 8. St. John Fisher improves to 8-5-1 overall and 4-0-0 in the Empire 8. RIT travels to #11 Hamilton College on Saturday, October 18 at 1 p.m.
