Click for BoxscoreROCHESTER, NY -- The men's soccer team travelled to Elmira College for an Empire 8 matchup this afternoon. Despite out shooting the Soaring Eagles 16-4 RIT was defeated by Elmira, 1-0.
The first half saw RIT take six shots overall and three shots on net. Elmira's goalie Kelly Brooks stopped all three of RIT's shots. RIT's Matt Klosner only saw one shot make it through his defense, who turned in a strong effort, in the first half, making the save.
RIT turned up the offensive pressure in the second half, taking 10 shots overall and seven on goal. However, the Tigers couldn't break through and tally a goal. The 0-0 tie was finally broken in the 57th minute when Elmira's Jeremiah Kneeland tallied a goal, giving Elmira a 1-0 lead.
The loss drops RIT to 5-7-1 overall and 1-3-0 in the Empire 8. The Tigers will host St. John Fisher College on Wednesday, October 15 at 4 p.m.
