Click for BoxscoreROCHESTER, NY -- The men's soccer team tied Buffalo State, 1-1 this afternoon at RIT Field.
RIT dominated play throughout the game, out shooting the Bengals 25-8. However, Buffalo State was able to tally a goal late in the first half. Matt Ketchum redirected a shot that was loose in RIT's penalty area into the net, giving the Bengals a 1-0 lead. The Tigers kept the pressure on Buffalo State but Shawn McDonnell kept making the saves.
With just a little over nine minutes remaining in regulation senior co-captain Travis Proctor (Livonia, NY) tied the game with an assist going to Trae Lower (Biglerville, PA). RIT had several more chances to take the lead before time ran out in regulation but could not break through.
Nate Andrews (Rochester, NY) made one save in net for RIT, while Shawn McDonnell finished the day with 11 saves for the Bengals.
RIT is now 5-3-1 on the season and will face Empire8 foe Alfred University on Saturday, September 27 at Noon. Buffalo State improved to 1-5-2 on the season.
