ELMIRA, N.Y.—The Rochester Institute of Technology men’s basketball team was unable to stop the Soaring Eagles offense giving them the 96-79 victory. Elmira’s starting line-up closed out the night in double figures.

The Tigers maintained the early lead in the first half until Elmira’s leading scorer James Traola (Holbrook, N.Y.) hit the jumper off a pass from Corrin Jackson (Newfield, N.Y.) to give the Soaring Eagles the advantage. Elmira would head into the locker room leading by eight.

The weary Tiger squad returned to the floor to begin the second half. Dan Cerro (Union Springs, N. Y.) sparked the RIT offense hitting lay-up after lay-up bringing the Tigers within five. In spite of this, RIT had played a physical game the night before and were unable to muster the strength to pass the quicker Elmira team.

Despite the loss four Tigers scored in double figures in Fran Snyder (Buffalo, NY/Bishop Timon St. Jude) (Buffalo, N.Y.) with 19, both Mike Stanton (Honeoye Falls, N.Y.) and Sean Murphy (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville North) (Buffalo, N.Y.) each added 13 while Cerro rounded out the scoring with 11.
