ROCHESTER, N.Y.- Freshman forward Nuno Monteiro (Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal) scored the eventual game-winning goal seven minutes into the second half ending the Rochester Institute of Technology men's soccer team's three-game losing skid with a convincing 2-0 Empire 8 win against Utica College.

Monteiro scored on a beautiful crossing pass from midfielder Abe Zwirn (Berwick, Maine). The Tigers sealed the victory in the 67th minute, when forward Blake Harrison (Vineland, N.J.) scored off a picture perfect through ball pass from forward Rick Anthony (Baldwinsvile, N.Y.).

The RIT Tigers dominated the game on both sides of the field. The Tigers peppered Utica goalie Andy Bonaparte (Pompey, N.Y./Fabius-Pompey) with 28 shots, while the stingy Tigers defense only allowed six shots. Senior captain goalkeeper Brian Lenzo (Greece,N.Y./Greece Athena) made four saves for his first shutout of the year.

The RIT men's soccer team will be back in action on Wednesday, September 25th, when they travel to Buffalo to play against Buffalo State at 4 p.m.
