ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Moet De La Torre (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville) scored the lone goal of the game to lead RIT to a 1-0 victory over Hamilton College on Tuesday afternoon.
De la Torre's goal came 20 minutes into the first half on a feed from Wheatland-Chili local, Jackie Matejcik (Scottsville, N.Y./Wheatland-Chili) who appeared in her first action of the year after sustaining an injury during preseason. De la Torre's strike was from 15 yards out that Hamilton goalie Jen Munoz didn’t have a chance at attacking, as it flew straight over her head to the back of the net.
However, Hamilton seemed to outplay the Tigers at times with the Continentals holding the 15-8 shot advantage. RIT Sophomore goalkeeper Carrie Yehle (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) made nine saves to earn her first shutout of the season and second for the Tigers this season.
The Tigers look to build on their four-game winning streak Friday, Sept. 20 when the take on the Golden Knights of Clarkson at 4 p.m. at RIT field.
