Tiger Women's Tennis Narrowly Defeats SUNY Cortland 5-4 in First-Ever Intercollegiate Match at New RIT Tennis Center

Rochester, N.Y. - The Rochester Institute of Technology women's tennis team made their debut at the new RIT Tennis Center a memorable one with a 5-4 victory against SUNY Cortland Saturday afternoon.

The RIT Tennis Center was completed this past July and has nine lighted hardcourts. The complex replaces the old hardcourts which were eliminated with the construction of the new 160,000 square-foot $25 million dollar field house and student activities center which will break ground this Fall.

2001 All-Empire 8 selection junior Sara Kula (Davie, FL/Lafayette) (Chesterfield, Mo.) remained undefeated in singles with her third victory of the year and second consecutive 6-1, 6-0 margin of victory against Gaby Somma.

Freshmen Jenn Hume (Nashville, Tenn.) also remained perfect at No. 4 singles with a 6-3, 6-1 victory against Stacy Gordon.
