ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Nicole Paga (Pittsburgh, PA/Brashear) and Megan Condon (Bohemia, N.Y./East Islip) each scored a pair of goals to lead the Rochester Institute of Technology women's soccer team to a 5-1 record at Buffalo State Wednesday afternoon.
RIT fell behind 1-0 when Karen Voght connected on a header over starting goalkeeper Carrie Yehle (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) at 14:25. Despite, the early deficit, the game was dominated by RIT which outshot Buffalo State 42-7.
After withstanding the pressure for 30 minutes, the Tigers finally broke through with Paga's first goal from Brooke Thompson (Avon Lake, OH/Avon Lake) at 31:43. Just under six minutes later at 37:19, Condon gave RIT a 2-1 lead when she lifted a shot over Buffalo State goalkeeper Erin Strassburg who finished the afternoon with 16 saves.
The Tigers had numerous chances in the second half, but finally got on the board at 77:22 and 80:41, with Paga's second and Condon's second on a penalty-kick. Moet De La Torre (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville) scored the Tigers' final goal when she ripped a shot that deflected off a Buff. State defender and into the goal far post.
The Tigers host Alfred University on Saturday, Sept. 14 at noon.
