BOSTON, Mass. -- The Rochester Institute of Technology outshot Wentworth 53-28, but came away with a 2-2 overtime tie due to the tremendous play of Wentworth goalie Raj Bhangoo who turned away 51 of the 53 shots.
Wentworth came out early initiating a physical game and its hard work paid off with a goal by Erik Kobisky at 4:27 of the first period. On a breakaway Mark Cavanaugh took a shot from the right side of RIT goalie Tyler Euverman who kicked the shot away right to a trailing Kobisky's stick and he easily scored to put Wentworth up 1-0.
Nicholas Legare put the Leopards up 2-0 at 13:27 of the first from Dave Zelasko and Bhangoo.
The first period deficit definitely fired up RIT, who came out in the second on a mission and the first task of tying the game was completed on goals by Mike Bournazakis at 6:05 and then Errol McDonald's game-tying goal at 12:51 redirecting Marc Hyman's shot from the right point. However, with a 23-10 second period shot advantage the Tigers weren't able to complete the task over taking a lead in the game.
The third period and overtime frame were evenly played by both squads and each had strong chances to take the lead. In OT, shots on goal were five apiece.
The Tigers continue their five-game road trip after a week off for the Thanksgiving break resuming ECAC West play at Neumann on Dec. 6 and then close out the weekend at Manhattanville on Dec. 7.
