ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Rochester Institute of Technology men's soccer team battled to a 0-0 double-overtime tie at Ithaca College in Empire 8 action Saturday afternoon.

The game was a very physical contest with both teams combining for 44 fouls and were whistled for seven yellow cards (four on the Tigers).

Both teams were fairly even in regulation with Ithaca holding a slight 11-8 shot advantage, but the Bombers recorded five shots in overtime to just one for RIT. RIT goalkeeper Brian Lenzo (Greece, N.Y.) recorded six saves in the game one in overtime).

The Tigers' hopes for a third straight Empire 8 title are still intact as they are tied with Ithaca for first-place, while Nazareth is 3-1-0 behind the unbeaten pair.

The Tigers' quest is much similar to how RIT won last year's title with a double-overtime 0-0 tie at Alfred, as the Tigers finished 5-0-1 in the Empire 8. RIT's Empire 8 slate includes hosting Elmira Saturday, Oct. 12 in its next game and has to travel to St. John Fisher and Nazareth, while Ithaca travels to Elmira and hosts Alfred and St. John Fisher.
