Raymond C. Bell, a native of Brighton, N.Y., served as trainer for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics when the campus moved from downtown Rochester to its present location in Henrietta. Bell was the Institute’s first full time trainer and expanded the program of care, prevention, rehabilitation and treatment of athletic injuries provided for student athletes at RIT. He worked closely with some of the leading orthopedic surgeons in Rochester and conducted clinics and seminars in numerous schools throughout the east. Considered an authority in athletic training, Bell also provided services for all visiting college teams. Bell was honored by many high schools for his volunteer work and is a past recipient of the Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity Outstanding Service Award in recognition of his work at RIT and within the community. Bell is a graduate of Monroe High School and a former football coach at Brighton High School.
