When football began at RIT, then the Rochester Athenaeum, Bill Scudder was one of the first to sign up for the squad. He played three seasons, under coach Jack Forsyth. A 1921 industrial arts graduate, Scudder was termed one of the mainstays by former director of athletics and Hall of Famer Sherman B. Hagberg. "Bill was one of the very best players and helped get the program established," said Hagberg. "He was also an outstanding leader and a tribute to the Institute."
