Woody Hudson Class of 1981

Induction Class of 2025
Men's Basketball

Woody Hudson certainly made his presence felt on the RIT basketball court. In three varsity seasons (1978-1981), Woody scored 929 points and recorded what was then a school record 138 blocked shots. He still holds the mark with 11 blocked shots in a game (1980-81 vs. Alfred). The Business Administration major from Bronx, N.Y. was a prolific shooter, hitting on 51.7 percent of his field goal attempts. He also collected 164 assists and 130 steals. He served as captain his junior and senior campaigns and was named Defensive Player of the Year all three seasons. As a senior, he was voted Most Outstanding Player by the Rochester area coaches. He also averaged 7.0 rebounds and helped guide the Tigers to their first-ever ECAC post-season appearance in 1979-80, losing to Elmira in the championship. That same season RIT won the Lincoln First Tournament with a thrilling 59-58 win over University of Rochester. A week later he was again true to the test in a rematch with Rochester. Woody led the Tigers with 16 points, five steals, seven assists and two blocked shots, earning him RIT Athlete of the Week honors. He scored in double figures in 52 of 73 games.
