Induction Class of 2014
Distinguished Service
Men's Cross Country/Track & Field

Peter Todd led RIT to a 226-75 mark in cross country and 150-8 in track over his 32 years at the institute from 1964-96. His track teams never lost a home dual meet, with a string of 108 victories. Along the way, Todd produced 49 All-Americans. Eleven of his cross country teams won Upper New York State titles while his track teams captured 20 crowns. Nine of Todd’s cross country teams placed in the top 10 at the NCAA Division III Championships with a third place finish in 1985. In 1968, Todd and several of his cross country runners alternated carrying a torch non-stop from Washington, DC to commemorate the opening of the present campus. In 1979 when the institute celebrated its 150th anniversary, Todd and 11 alumnus ran non-stop coast-to-coast from California to Maryland and on to RIT. The event, recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records, took just over 14 days and covered 2,846.5 miles.
